Photovoltaic panels, renewable resources, ozone hole, sustainable restoration of cultural heritage will be the topics of the Postgraduate Summer School on Green Chemistry http://www.unive.it/greenss2018, which is organized by IUPAC, the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry. IUPAC expresses the international chemical community (60 countries) on a scientific level and in this case it is proposed to redefine chemistry in the light of the 17 objectives for sustainable development of the United Nations. 80 post-graduate students and young researchers with 20 teachers from 40 countries gathered at the Goldoni Hall of our center. 30 of the young participants come from developing countries, including 15 from Africa, and have received scholarships from both IUPAC and Eni’s sponsors, L’Oréal, PhosAgro and OPAC, the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons. The choice of Venice as a place of the event is not casual; there is the intent to transmit the scientific culture, concerning the new strategies and methodologies of development, starting from one of the most beautiful Italian cities in the world, so as to make the hospitality of this amazing city with a rigorous scientific base in the minds of young people : their future career in their respective countries will also be linked to the grateful memory of this life experience. Teachers of international scientific and academic importance participate in the event, such as Prof. Michael Graetzel, scientist well known for the photovoltaic panels of Lausanne and Prof. Eugene Rozanov of the Davos Physical-Meteorological Observatory in Switzerland, a scientist who knows the causes and can propose scientific remedies to the problem of the ozone hole. Many will be the interventions that will explain how to use the material that nature makes available for our daily use through a new chemistry that respects the environment and man. We start from scientific bases to prepare sustainable development that is the basis of shared progress.

The Venice Ophthalmology Summer School was held in Venice, from 1th to 8th, July, 2018 in our Sala Goldoni.
As the past editions, held in 2013, 2014 , 2015 and 2017 this School confirms to be a great opportunity for young Specialists in Ophthalmology and Faculty members to meet together, to exchange hypothesis, theories and experience, and learn the importance of the direct contact, in an unsual and stimulating location.
The harmonization of education in Ophthalmology needs direct daily contact among trainees, at least for a period of time, to share their previous experiences and to create a network for the future cultural project. The Venice Ophthalmology Summer School offers such an experience and new opportunities to young and motivated ophthalmologists.
Mission
The aim of the Venice Ophthalmology Summer School (VOSS) is to allow very young Specialists in Ophthalmology to be actively involved in a full immersion course on advanced basic and clinical topics in Ophthalmology. Besides Keynote Lectures, attendees will have the possibility of a continuous dialogue with Faculty members; they are also encouraged to present their personal experience which will be discussed in plenary sessions and they will actively participate in the presentations given by the Faculty members.
The participants are very young specialists in Ophthalmology mainly coming European countries. They will be selected through an international call. The Faculty Members are well known leaders in Ophthalmology, involved in basic research and/or clinical ophthalmology, with a special ability in teaching.
The philosophy of the VOSS is that this School is free of charge for the selected participants (double bedroom accommodation, registration, breakfast, lunch and selected dinner events). All accepted participants agree to attend VOSS 2018 from Sunday July 1th to Sunday July 8th, attending ALL scientific sessions (from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm) and the social events. No exceptions to this rules (if you are not sure to be able to follow these rules, please do not apply) ! On Sunday, July 1st, session begins at 5:00 pm and all accepted participants need to be on time.
The VOSS language is English. The venue is inside the city of Venice, not only one of the most worldwide known art cities, but historically (and currently) one of the most multiethnic and multicultural cities in the world. A place where languages, cultures and religions meet since more than 1000 years.
