CERIecon Interreg 20th and 21st September 2018

It is important to provide, at regional level, the right mix of financial and non-financial support to assist entrepreneurs to create new firms.” “And this is the goal of CERIecon. By mid-2019, the project will contribute to a change in the way entrepreneurs are inspired, trained and supported through a balanced package of strategies, actions plans, pilot actions, training, and tools to create new-type comprehensive regional innovation ecosystems in seven Central Europe regions. With their three-step logical project approach (Development – Implementation – Improvement), they want entrepreneurs and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to benefit the most from what they do. But also their regions will benefit because from now on regional smart specialisation strategies will be further used to develop novel technologies, and brilliant products and services for economic and social innovation.

Green Chemistry: IUPAC Postgraduate Summer School 8th-11th July 2018

Photovoltaic panels, renewable resources, ozone hole, sustainable restoration of cultural heritage will be the topics of the Postgraduate Summer School on Green Chemistry http://www.unive.it/greenss2018, which is organized by IUPAC, the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry. IUPAC expresses the international chemical community (60 countries) on a scientific level and in this case it is proposed to redefine chemistry in the light of the 17 objectives for sustainable development of the United Nations. 80 post-graduate students and young researchers with 20 teachers from 40 countries gathered at the Goldoni Hall of our center. 30 of the young participants come from developing countries, including 15 from Africa, and have received scholarships from both IUPAC and Eni’s sponsors, L’Oréal, PhosAgro and OPAC, the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons. The choice of Venice as a place of the event is not casual; there is the intent to transmit the scientific culture, concerning the new strategies and methodologies of development, starting from one of the most beautiful Italian cities in the world, so as to make the hospitality of this amazing city with a rigorous scientific base in the minds of young people : their future career in their respective countries will also be linked to the grateful memory of this life experience. Teachers of international scientific and academic importance participate in the event, such as Prof. Michael Graetzel, scientist well known for the photovoltaic panels of Lausanne and Prof. Eugene Rozanov of the Davos Physical-Meteorological Observatory in Switzerland, a scientist who knows the causes and can propose scientific remedies to the problem of the ozone hole. Many will be the interventions that will explain how to use the material that nature makes available for our daily use through a new chemistry that respects the environment and man. We start from scientific bases to prepare sustainable development that is the basis of shared progress.
